27 August, 2007

So here’s ours. Sunday morning we set out for Carolina Adventure [...]

Corn on the Cob in the Cat

Corn on the Cob in the Cat Originally uploaded by This Guy Colin
Just looking through some old mini-movies I’d taken… the one this picture came from was taken sometime last year, and depicts the aftermath of feeding corn to the pets.
I figured Vince would like [...]

The Obligatory "Hot" Blog

22 August, 2007

WITH us living here in the midlands of South Carolina and all,
AND with said midlands going through the customary mid-August heat wave,
WHICH IS apparently even more severe than in years past,
WHICH THEMSELVES were said to be pretty doggoned sweletering,
I SUPPOSE it’s time for me to gripe and moan about the weather.
AHEM.
*****
I thought it [...]

Of all the mechanical arts, I can say with some degree of authority that [...]

Hypin’ The Hyphen

7 August, 2007

Little-known fact: when you have a two-part phrase that describes something, the two parts need to be connected with a hyphen. The hyphen shows that they’re working together.
Otherwise it seems like each one applies individually, which may or may not be the case. For example, if your friend runs her own bakery, you could [...]

The Salesman

6 August, 2007

“Hello? …Hello?”
I’ve just picked up my cell phone, which started ringing in my desk drawer here a few minutes ago. I don’t recognize the number, but I notice that the area code is 317 — Indianapolis, where I lived until about a year ago.
After a quiet pause, I hear a little voice on the other [...]

Irish Wisdom Follow-Up to Previous Entry

3 August, 2007

“In this life there are only two things to worry about.

Either you will be healthy or you will be sick. If you are healthy, there is nothing to worry about.
And if you are sick, there are only two things to worry about. Either you will live or you will die.
If you live, there is [...]
